Great Photos BUT...... 2008-08-01
I had this printer and a new cartridge sent to me while on vacation so I could print photos on the go. The "introductory" ink cartridge printed only one photo , all in RED, So I installed the new cartridge. The photos and extras like touch screen, editing, frames all were great. However, I only got 44 4x6 photos from a $20 cartridge. That puts the cost at 45cents each. Way too much! So I returned the printer. Loved the unit, hated the cost per photo.

So whats up with a vendor like HP cheaping out on the printer cartridge in a brand new printer? This was bought as a gift and for the record, it's my third HP personal printer. The other two came with real cartridges and this one has an "introductory" printer cartridge good for a whole 10 prints. HP, dont bend over backwards for the customer. This is a real shame because the printer really does work pretty well and it is a smaller footprint than the Epson. But to buy a 140 dollar printer and then find out after the fact you need to buy a 30 dollar cartridge just to start working is inexcusable.
when did it become acceptable for a company to not include a real printer cartridge w/ the printer? 2007-11-28
This printer is small, it can print directly from a usb flash drive (I haven't tried printing from other sources yet), and the photos look good (although I have only tried B&W so far). The main reason that I'm rating it as a 2 is because it comes w/ an introductory printer cartridge, instead of a real cartridge. I've bought at least 3 printers in the past, none of them HP, and they all came w/ a regular cartridge. The included cartridge with this printer only has enough ink for 10 photos. One of the photos gets used up when you intially set up the printer - it tests the cartridge alignment. Anyone buying this printer needs to be aware that they will need to buy a printer cartridge right off the bat, in addition to buying this printer. Also, when I printed a 4 by 6 photo w/ a border, the photo was not centered properly - the border was greater on the bottom than the top, even though the paper was aligned properly in the tray. Actual printing time of a borderless B&W photo was 1.46 minutes, and a bordered B&W photo was 2.00 minutes.

UPDATE: 10 = 8. I just used up the introductory printer cartridge and it only printed 8 of my photos before I had to throw it out.
