A Tiny Workhorse
2010-05-25
|
I've owned the PIXMA iP3000 for a few years now and it has given me fewer problems than my more expensive printers. It is no longer manufactured and I see the price is going up for the remaining ones. When I purchased the iP3000, it was a great deal.
While it does an adequate job of printing photos if the proper paper is used, that is not what I got it for. I just wanted a reliable general use printer for home office needs (Mac based). It prints out documents very well, and presentations too. Web pages look decent as well. It prints fairly fast and is rather quiet while doing so. The software that came with it is okay but I just use the utilities and drivers. Ink replacement and maintenance is fairly simple and I've never had to replace the print heads. They have clogged on occasion after not using the printer for a while, but running the cleaning cycle several times solves that. It isn't an ink hog, but Canon inks are expensive so I've been getting a generic brand that costs 1/5 as much and getting good results.
The PIXMA iP3000 has been a reliable printer for me for a long time, so if you don't expect very high quality photo printing and if you can get a deal on one, go for it! |

Our ip3000 has not been good for printing photos.
2009-10-28
|
The ip3000 has never worked as it was advertised it would with regard to printing out photos, it will not print on any kind of photo paper / Ink Jet, etc,...without leaving lines across the paper and photo being printed.
After spending a lot of time and money trying to get it to work properly it still will not print out photos properly, we are very disapointed with this Canon ip3000.
We have our photos printed at a local shop and will continue to do so as the cost of trying to use this printer or buying another one that might work, or not is a waste and just not worth it.
This 1p3000 is ok for regular printing but it SUCKS for photos ! |

Fine Printer When New but WILL NOT LAST!
2009-10-26

I should have learned my lesson with my first Canon printer. Unfortunately I replaced it with this ip3000 model. It will not last! The paper feed mechanism will soon go bad. Mine fed paper in at an angle, grabbing it on the right side and ripping it apart. After too many hours of research and dickering, I simple annihilated it into with the largest hammer I have! I must have thrown over fifty pieces into the garbage. The problems with this printer are well documented on the internet despite positive feedback here on Amazon. I will NEVER buy another Canon product again. NEVER!!!

Defective printer
2009-03-28
|
| We were able to print a few photos on this printer before it malfunctioned with an error indicating a paper jam. We could find no jam, but have not been able to make the printer function since this problem. The manual and online error messages are completely unhelpful. Thus this printer is junk for us. |

Great printer and inexpensive ink cartridges
2009-01-15
|
I replaced my old HP printer with this one. The main reason I bought this printer was because the ink cartridges were much cheaper to replace than the HP. I am very satisfied with this printers performance. I have printed T- Shirt decals, I have printed on photo paper, and even resume paper and everything has come out beautiful. The speed of the printer is very good as well. It has two paper feeders so you can either load up a large quantity of plain paper, or use the tray for photo paper, and the top feed for plain paper. Which I think is a very good feature.
Another good feature is that digital cameras can be connected directly to the printer to make photo prints, so you don't have to bother transferring the images from the camera to your computer. I have also networked a desktop and three laptops to this printer and they all work great. The desktop is wired and the laptops are wireless. Two of the laptops have Windows XP and the third has Windows Vista. All in all I like this printer best out of all the printers I have owned so far.
