NO Software support for Mac 10.4.X 2008-01-08
When it comes to Epson...I think that Mac users should run, don't walk as far and fast away as you can. I have not had ANY luck getting software that didn't crash after every use for my Intel mac. There doesn't seem to be any plugins for my CS3 photoshop either.

I have emailed Epson twice and have never gotten any more than the automated response that my email was recieved and a customer service person would contact me soon.

I strongly suspect that they are not helping me since they do not have any software to support this product on my Mac...AND there is not way to scan without it.

At this point, my year old scanner is just a bulky door stop.

I have never liked that it had too large of a footprint. Other flatbed scanners are smaller and will take up less room on your desktop (which is increasingly getting tighter for all of us.)

I suspect that if you have a PC or an old Mac, you would be fine. But don't expect Epson to keep up with software upgrades that will work on your mac if you upgrade your sytem.

I have contacted several local Mac techs (since Epson was NO help)...and they all told me that Epson is an extremely poor choice for Macs. Too bad, good hardware, for the most part...TERRIBLE software support (oh and apparently POOR customer service from Epson.)

Used a 1600 for 6 six years and counting. I expect the same service from this one. Good scanners don't become obsolete.
