Product Description
Offering different magnifications ranging from eight to 12.5 times, the DCF SP-series models are housed in a nitrogen-filled magnesium-alloy waterproof body (JIS Class 6) and protected with a full-body rubber housing. They deliver exceptional image quality, thanks to an inner-focus optical design incorporating hybrid aspherical eyepiece lenses, high-resolution phase-coated roof prisms, hydrophobic coating on objective and eyepiece lenses, and multi-coated optical elements. Their lightweight design and long eye relief allow for fatigue-free viewing, even during extended observations. They also come equipped with such user-friendly features as an extra-short minimum focusing distance, a diopter adjuster with lock mechanism, and helicoid-type eyepiece rings with four click stops.

Terrific binoculars. Great for bird watching. These were a replacement for a prior pair we lost.

The Pentax DCF binoculars are fantastic!

These binoculars are very clear and "bright." It is amzing how well they work in low light. We used them on a trip with our son who has $1200 Leica binoculars and they were very nearly interchangeable.

Great binoculars.

I finally purchased a quality pair of binoculars after decades of using lower priced models. I did lot of research and chose the Pentax 10x43. The image is truly superb. Much better than I expected. Lightweight, rugged, fast focus, and a pleasure to use. I really like the diopter adjuster with lock mechanism; the nonlockable version was always rotating out of adjustment. The extra-short minimum focusing distance is a must bird watching. Highly recommend these.

Best pair of Binoculars that I have ever owned
2007-03-16

I have owned many binoculars before. Nothing matches this pair. Very bright, water proof, very close focusing, great optical coatings, nice rubber coatings, and EXCELLENT long eye-relief for those of us with glasses. Nice idea haveing the rear lens cups attached. As a naturalist I find the birds I see just seem to pop out. And the binoculars look great too. I purchased these at this site although the actual dealer was Adorama. Adorama's price was almost $200 less than anywhere elses's and they shipped very fast.
Unless you want to spend another $600 more on a pair of binoculars I really can't see why you need to look any further. Most people will sctach their heads why your birding binoculars are Pentax instead of Nikon or Leica, that is until they try them.
Like all optics yuo'll want to try them out first, but I think this is a really great pair to put on your short list.
