Best small 35mm camera I ever had! 2001-07-03

This camera can't help but take good pictures. I bought this Olympus Epic Zoom 80 Deluxe because it is so small that it easily fits in my coat pocket without weighing me down. I trusted the Olympus name for getting quality prints. Well, I took the camera to my Neice's Wedding. Shot 11 rolls of Fuji 200 speed film. All the pictures came out excellent. Even all the flash pictures. The flash is very well balanced and doesn't over exposure even when people were as close as 2 & 1/2 feet. This camera is definitely the BEST small compact 35mm I ever owned!

Excellent go anywhere companion 1999-08-17

I purchased mine from Amazon.com. As a long time devotee to SLR camera's I wanted a compact camera with many of the features of an SLR, including a telephoto capability, but without the size and weight. I found the Olympus Stylus Epic Zoom 80 with panarama an excellent substitute, especially when weight and/or convenience is a consideration. The standard and panarama photos have been of excellent quality. The camera adapts to different light conditions quite well, providing a clear picture, even in lower light. Olympus recommends ASA 400 film, but I found ASA 200 to do quite well. You do have the ability to override the flash and the autofocus when you need to, which is a plus for those who like that feature in a true SLR camera. The ability to carry the camera in a shirt pocket has meant that I have taken pictures on hikes, birding with friends, in museums and any other place where a larger camera would have been more of a hinderance, than a help. Definitely recommend it as a good buy.

Excellent choice for 35mm camera!!! 1999-07-16

(mine is the Stylus 70, the predecessor to the new Stylus 80). I'm pleased with the camera's features and design. I chose it mainly for it's compactness and ability to shoot in wet settings, like on the beach. The newer model offers more features, so it ought to be even nicer. BTW, reading the July issue of American Airlines' travel magazine, I took notice of an article they had on photography. Of the 20 or so professional photographers polled, several chose the Olympus Stylus design as their favored point-and-shoot model.

I don't own the exact same model, but I have Zoom 80. It's small, light and stylish. I agree with Amazon's review that it's smaller than many APS cameras. I wanted to get an APS camera, but it's a bit expensive for the same features and style. I think it's a good value for a 35mm camera. For me, it's a good step before migrating to APS camera.
