Love it so much, I bought a 2nd one after the 1st one Broke! 2005-01-02
Yes, you heard me right. We got this camera a few years ago and spent more than $300 for it. It is fantastic. I have Never seen a camera that is this easy to use and gets result like this.
We used to take 3 or 4 shots to get one good one.
We don't have to do that anymore. I will bet that there is onely about 3 photos per 5 rolls of film that is not close to perfect when we use this camera. The focus is fantastic and the zoom is great. We get 25 rolls of film from a single pair of batteries. (including flash and auto rewind and zoom).
The colors we get are unbelievable for such a small camera.
My daughter had never used any camera before (age 10).
The very first time she used it, she took 2 rolls of film at the zoo. She mounted the best 10 of them for 4H and got Reserve champion. How do you say anything better than that.
I guess you could say, this camera is so good even a kid can do it.
We then went right out and bought another camera just like it as a thank-you gift for my mother and father in law. They will do comercials for it too. It makes things way to easy to get fantastic photos, Even if my mother in law IS the one taking them.
This camera has a viewfinder that has a seperate zoom so that when you zoom in and out you see approximately what you would see if you were looking through the lens. Not Through the lens viewing, but close enough for most shots. On day, something went wrong in the lens system for the viewfinder. It focus all the way zoomed out, or all the way zoomed in, but not very well in between. The photo quality still always turned out perfect, but it was kind of anoying. It was going to cost $90+ to get it fixed. We loved the camera so much we decided to BUY another one and keep the first one as a back up. We are NOT sorry. I am telling you, it was a coin flip whether to get the first one fixed anyway. You will not be dis satisfied with this camera. In fact, I would rather have the "broken one", than most any other small camera I have seen.
Takes wonderful close-ups and regular shots! 2002-10-16
I'm not a "pro" at photo taking, but this camera makes it so much easier. I wanted a camera with lots of zoom, easy to use options, and great-looking shots. It has all of these qualities! I've taken really wonderful photos with this camera, and I would recommend it to anyone. (I've had it for 3 yrs.)
(The batteries are easy to find anywhere, too.)
One small problem I have encountered- the white lettering/symbols on the dial does tend to rub off, if you have sunscreen on your hands!
Great photographs, easy to use, no problems 2002-08-01
I got my Z115 in August 1997 in preparation for a monthlong stay in Germany. The thought of lugging my old Minolta SR-T 101, a big and heavy 28-200 zoom, and a separate flash attachment really put me off. The Z115 proved to be a fine alternative, doing pretty much everything I needed it to do, and doing it easily and without much weight or bulk.

I do not use the many settings the Z115 offers, I pretty much stick with the "Auto" mode. I do play with the various flash settings (always on, always off, etc.)

I am frankly surprised (and disappointed) to hear of the reliability problems others have had. All I can say is that I have not had those problems with my use; the camera has worked flawlessly. It's now five years old and going strong. I will keep my fingers crossed that it stays that way.

Love this little camera 2002-05-01
Five years ago I was going to Italy on vacation and dreaded the thought of having my SLR around my neck the whole time, so I traded it for this Z115. Even after all this time, I'm still amazed at what good shots it takes! And I could never go back to a camera without a nice long zoom lens. I just wish the wide angle was a little wider. And since I'm old school, sometimes I wish I could play with depth of field by changing the aperture, but darn it's convenient to have such an automated, compact camera that has given me no trouble, just wonderful vacation pictures. And a built-in flash is a lifesaver too, esp. since with a little fiddling you can either keep it off or force it on for certain situations.
Problems Galore 2002-03-27
Like many of the other reviewers, I too have had numerous problems with this camera. The first one I owned had to be returned after only 3 months due to a problem with the zoom lens having trouble retracting in addition to the lens cover not closing in some cases. The second camera has the same problem, this time, the camera lasted about 8 months. My suggestion, keep this camera away from any humidity or moisture. That seems to create the problem. Don't even think about taking pictures on a rainy day, even with an umbrella!

It is so unfortunate, since this camera takes such great pictures.....
