Picture storage for digital camera
2005-08-15
| The Viking 128 MB SD card was a perfect addition to the new Kodak camera. It permitted me to take over 130 pictures at a setting of 5 MP each. Both the camera and the memory chip worked just fine. | ||

How many pictures will it store?
2004-11-05
| How many pictures will it store? It is the most commonly asked question from digital camera enthusiast but usually the question that is the most difficult to get a straight answer about. Well, considering I worked in the memory industry for over 7 years I can help clarify this perplexing question and do so unbiased as I have since changed industries.
The Viking 128MB Secure Digital Card, like most 128MB cards, will store on average 142 pictures when used with a 2 megapixel camera, 106 images when used with a 3 megapixel camera, 64 pictures when used with a 4 megapixel camera, 51 images when used with a 5 megapixel camera, and 40 pictures when used with a 6 megapixel camera. These numbers are based off the assumption that you are going to shoot your images at the highest quality JPEG setting available for the camera and understand that they are estimates and may be off by as much as 10 percent due to numerous factors including the complexity of the scene being shot and the compression algorithm used by your specific camera. I truly hope this review was helpful to you in determining whether this card is the right capacity for your specific needs. |

Slower than molasses--until I formatted it.
2004-10-16
| NOTE TO EVERYONE WHO IS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THIS CARD--I reformatted it in my camera and it works fine now!!
Initially I wrote: I was very disappointed in the shot-to-shot speed with this card (using a Minolta Xg). The Panasonic card that came with the camera, which I thought would be cheap, is THREE TIMES FASTER than this "upgrade". This card is useless to me as it cripples the camera I bought it to work in. It takes FOURTEEN SECONDS from one shot to the next with this card. With the original card, it's less than four seconds. The claim that this is a "high speed" card is dishonest. This is the slowest card I've ever used. I will throw this card away rather than curse someone else with it. |

Works great for me!

| I haven't had one problem with this card at all. I'm super happy that I bought it & I had a bonus to get a rebate.. woo hoo! | ||

DOA
2004-08-07
| The first card I received was defective. Even after formatting it in a camera, the image files could not be transferred to any of 3 computers with 2 different O/Ses via USB cable to the camera or card reader. I'm waiting on a replacement. Hope it works! | ||

don't fit my Canon photoshot A60

| Just FYI, I bought this one and it was too small to fit my Canon A60. | ||

Slow. Slow. Did I say slow?
2004-07-22
| I bought this card as a spare memory for my Casio 5MP digicam.
The original memory that I got free as a bonus with the camera was branded Edge and also has 128MB on it. The first thing I did when I got the Viking card was of course insert in into the camera and see if it works. It sure did, but I immediately noticed that it is quite a bit slower than Edge. Maximum resolution pictures produce files about 2.5MB in size and it took good 4-5 seconds to record them to this Viking card. Add to that 2-3 seconds that camera takes for image processing and you get whopping 7-8 seconds from shot to shot. For comparison with the Edge card it is 4-5 seconds. Still a lot, but not as frustrating. The only plus - Viking is cheap from many retailers, and rebates are often avalable. My advice: if you need SD memory for digital photography at high resolution get a card with guaranteed high transfer rate - at least 5MB/sec. You'll have to pay more, but it is worth it. |

rebate not honored
2004-06-04
| I was disappointed that "Viking" would not honor the rebate as they said I did not send the UPC code from the package. I felt that I sent all they needed with the Amazon bill? I sent the cut out from the wrapping with a UPC code? | ||

Blah Blah Blah
2004-02-19
| I use the SD Card in my Compaq Ipaq. It gives you 118mb of storage and if you're machine is calibrated to accept cards automatically, there's no setup required. I am currently storing several MP3's on mine (used to convert my Ipaq to an MP3 player as well). I would say this is a great card (so far, had it about 2 weeks) and it's cheap compared to the others, although you get 10mb's less, that didn't bother me. | ||

FORGET YOUR REBATE!! -- You won't get it
2003-12-07
| I am another one who didn't get the rebate at all. Be careful with this Viking brand. If you wonna buy it, just look at the price before rebate!! |

Buyer beware of Viking!
2003-11-13
| I bought this because of a rebate offer. I paid full price, printed out the rebate form and waited for my SD card. When I received the card I filled out the rebate form and discovered that they will not mail a rebate to a PO Box. Since I live in a rural area, a PO box is my only way to receive mail. I wrote a letter of explanation and mailed everything in. No reply of any kind from Viking. Spend your money elsewhere. | ||

It works... what else is there to say?
2003-07-09
| Viking cards always work. Heck, you can leave one in your pocket and do the laundry and they'll keep right on working most of the time. (Yes, I've done that.) What else is there to say about a memory card? | ||
Worked perfectly
2003-06-28
| This item lives up to everything it's expected to do. Just wish I had bought a 256MB card instead, cause you can fill this one up in no time with mp3's. | ||

Great Product

Viking SD card really slow
2003-05-13
| I have found that writing to the Viking SD 128 card to be extremely slow. Copying a 10 Mb file took 10 minutes. Ugh. | ||
Works great!!

| Bought the card for my Palm Tungsten T. So far so good. Have been using it for music. I love it! Also, fast shipping and smooth transaction. | ||

Viking 128 MB SD Card for PDA's
2003-02-22
| After receiving this SD card from Amazon[.com], I was looking for instructions but it was not included. So I inserted this in my new HP iPAQ 1910 PDA and it worked. Even I don't have to format it as needed in other SD cards. It is a great product without any doubt and moreover it is having 5 years warranty from Manufacturer. What else we want. Highly recomended. | ||

Good for the job

128mg
2003-01-03
| I have used this digital card at my daughters wedding[over 150 picture were available] I was the photographer for her. I taught photography for many years at the high school level. It was so nice to have a card that kept high grade images and I did have to change out to another card during the entire time. I will be purchasing another card when I go on vacation in June to England...another wedding to photograph there also. Cannot beat the price either! L.C. Craven |

Like every other SD Card...

| ...this product protects against unauthorized replication of copyrighted content. As a result, copyrighted digital-audio files downloaded from music services can't be played on devices that use SD Cards, thus preventing the use of stolen material on said devices. | ||

IT WORKS!!!
2002-11-27
| There is not really much to tell. I bought this card because it came with a five year warranty, compared to the other manufactures that only offer a two year warranty. I bought it for my Kodak DX4330 and it worked. No problems with it what so ever. | ||

USING VIKING SD128M USE WITH THE MAGELLAN MERIDIAN PLATINUM
2002-07-26
| My Magellan Meridian Platinum came with software V3.08 so I checked the Magellan website and downloaded software V3.12 and installed it (you will require the Magellen Meridian PC serial cable). Installed the Viking SD128M card and it worked like a dream - no problems. The Meridian User Manual doesn't explain how to check your card but you will find it in the gps menu easy enough. Purchased this SD128M card for about the same price as a Magellan SD64M card would have cost - so I've doubled my memory for my money. Happy Hiking. | ||

Never worked in my iPAQ
2002-06-11
| After waiting several weeks for the 128MB SD card to arrive, I finally got it. Gleefully I inserted it into my Compaq iPAQ's SD slot and -- pffftttttttttt. Nothing. Nothing at all. I got an error dialog box saying the card was unrecognizable... Didn't even allow me to format it or anything...I have had no problems with my SanDisk 64MB SD card. | ||
It worked - I was amazed!!!!
2002-03-18
| I have a Compaq iPAQ and did not know much about these cards. Without reading the instructions (a guy thing), I put the card in the slot. A message poped up asking me if I wanted to format the card. I said yes and it was done. I now have about 121meg free space. I am using it for MP3s. This card is cool!!! |

Using SD128M with Magellan Meridian Platinum GPS
2002-03-17
| First of all, I'm not sure where the problem is but this card did not work with my Meridian GPS. It could have been either device. My GPS was shipped from Amazon.com with software rev. 3.05. 3.05 does not support 128Meg memory. Magellan sent to me a CD with rev 3.08 which should support the 128Meg card. If it dose, it sure dosen't work in my Meridian Platinum. As for the GPS unit itself, it's very nice and Magellan customer support is outstanding. I feel it is not fully intagrated into the Magellan software suite of products. There are too many work-arounds and bandaids to get the system to work. I'll purchase the 32M or the 64M card and hope for better results... |

Wont play ...[some] files
2002-03-09
| Guess what they dont mention? This product contains the hated RIAA secure digital music initiative ie it wont play all of the .mp3 that you downloaded. Read this quote from news.com "However, not everyone considers such security a step forward. Secure Digital includes software that complies with Secure Digital Music Initiative standards protecting against unauthorized replication of copyrighted content. As a result, digital-audio files downloaded from music services,... cannot be played on devices that use Secure Digital cards" In short you will only be able to use this with the RIAA approved songs and only as long as you pay the monthly fee. NO THANKS! |
