| This product worked great but it malfunctioned within 30 days of buying it. Zoom error. I sent it in for repair and am waiting to hear what's wrong. Repair service is very professional though. |

Awful pictures and no fun

Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/RIYI45UGJOKHW Check out the enclosed video made with this camera. Every time the zoom goes in or out, everything goes out of focus. As a result, you really can not zoom while shooting. And strangely, the vids can only be 12 minutes.
This camera takes all of the fun out of photography. None of the shots I took outdoors on a summer evening at 6 PM (still 2+ hours of sunlight left) was any good. blurry, unsharp, bad autofocus... nothing good to say about it. I've had a number of better point and shoot cameras. This one I can not return fast enough....
I shot about 40 stills... NONE of the shots is in focus and steady. I like the blurriness effect on two of the shots, but that is being generous.
My everyday camera is a Nikon D3 with a Nikon Lens AF-S NIKKOR 24-70mm f/2.8G ED.
It shoots amazing stills in low light, lightning autofocus, rapid multiframes.
I got the Finepix x10 for its dustproof attribute, but I really don't think I can use it/enjoy it. |

| We had the older version of this camera, and took it EVERYWHERE! However, we ran it over and decided go with this model, and we absolutely LOVE IT!! I would recommend it to anyone that likes the outdoors, you don't have to worry about water, dust, etc. It is perfect! |

Inexpensive; too bad it didn't last long

This camera was a cheap alternative to the higher priced cameras of its class. I read through reviews and saw both pretty good ones and saw some really bad ones as well. I didn't want to spend too much so I decided to go with it and give it a try. I consider it more of a "fun" camera. If your expectations for it is not sky high, you won't set yourself up for an easy disspointment. The picture quality on this camera can't compare to my old Canon point and shoot. Since I bought the camera mainly for water activities, I'll focus more on this.
Water video was interesting but not really good. It doesn't have image stabilization and if you're like most people, you're probably trying to have fun and video above the water or while snorkeling than to try to keep your hands as steady as possible. The 720p resolution on it is nice to have. I'm sure it would take nice videos if you're using a tripod. I found that most of my videos were annoying to watch because it looked like I was filming when an earthquake is happening. The sound when taken on land was sometimes muffled and I can't understand anything. Maybe defective for this camera? I don't know.
The underwater picture quality was not too bad. It was much better than those disposable underwater cameras. I don't really have any comparison for quality besides that. If it worked, it's cool enough for me. When the camera was out of the water and wet, you can see the water spots on the lense when viewing your pictures later. One drop of water may be small but when enlarged to a computer screen, it's a good portion of your picture. Maybe I needed to wipe rain-x on it so the water dropplets won't stick on the lense. =)
The problem comes when it only lasted a short while. On my 2nd outing using the camera at the beach in the water, it started acting funny and stopped working. I dried it off and was hoping what I read from other reviewers did not just happen to me. I opened the battery compartment and found that sand and water managed to get in. How much, I don't know but enough for it to stop functioning. The memory stick wasn't demaged when I dried it off and put it in the pc, so there's a plus there. Probably just enough water to shock it. There goes my hopes that it would not happen to me.
I had exchanged it for another one but I'm a little hesitant using it now. |
