I need this cable to display whatever showed on my camcorder. It does pretty great job.

Definitely Cheaper on eBay 2007-11-22
Go to eBay and spend about half the price for the equivalent cable NOT made by Sony. This way the bozos at Sony aren't making a dime off of you for their not-necessary-to-be proprietary cable and you still get what you need. I got this for my HDR-HC3 video camera for playback on my TV.

Sony VMC15FS A/V Cable 2007-05-12
Hate the fact that Sony has a special cable for its camcorders but I bought this OEM cable for a great price.

Replacement Cord 2007-01-11
SONY has manufactured their cord with a propreitary connection so that you have to order directly from them. Most cords can be purchased for about $7 locally in stores but SONY's has to be ordered. Amazon had the best price on this item and it works great but it is annoying that you have to purchase a SONY original part.

S-Video works BOTH directions (play or record) 2006-12-23
This cable works fine for my Sony DCR-DVD403 Handycam. I can play and record in S-Video with this cable. The key is to change the setting in the camera so that it uses S-Video instead of the default composite video connection. I found this in my Handycam's user manual. It works exactly as it should. Perhaps this is not the case for all Sony Handycams.
